In recent years, the growing number of young people and foreign visitors gathering to celebrate Halloween in Japan has led to problems like excessive noise and littering.
In response, Shibuya and Shinjuku wards announced on the 7th that they will implement joint measures ahead of Halloween on October 31st.
According to the announcement, street drinking will be prohibited in areas around Shibuya Station and Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district during the Halloween period. Convenience stores and other retailers will also be asked to stop selling alcohol. Both wards will carry out patrols and encourage residents and visitors to follow these new rules.
