日本で一番多い名字は「佐藤」ですが、夫婦が同じ名字を名乗らないといけない日本では、将来500年後に日本人全員の名字が「佐藤」になるという驚くべき計算結果が東北大学によって示されました。現在日本では全人口の1.5%が「佐藤さん」ですが、結婚により女性の名字が佐藤に塗り替えられることによって毎年0.83％ずつ「佐藤さん」が増えいくそうです。計算結果を発表した東北大学の教授によると、このシュミレーション結果によって国民が夫婦別姓制度を取り入れるきっかけになってほしいとのことでした。

The most common surname in Japan is "Sato," but an astonishing calculation by Tohoku University has shown that in Japan, where married couples must take the same surname, all Japanese will have "Sato" as their surname in 500 years from now. Currently, 1.5% of the total population in Japan is "Sato-san," but the number of "Sato-san" will increase by 0.83% every year as women's last names are changed to "Sato" through marriage. According to the Tohoku University professor who presented the calculation results, he hopes that the results of this simulation will encourage the public to adopt a system of separate surnames for married couples.
