Japanese Passport Becomes World's Strongest for Fifth Consecutive Year

The latest edition of the Henry Passport Index, which ranks the number of countries that can be traveled to without visa, has been released, and Japan took first place for the fifth consecutive year. Japanese passports allow travel to 193 countries out of total of 227 destinations, with Singapore and South Korea in second place with 192 countries. The lowest ranked country was Afghanistan with 27 countries. Reasons for the strength of the Japanese passport include the low crime rate among Japanese nationals, the fact that many countries expect Japanese nationals to visit them for business or tourism purposes, and the fact that Japanese passports are structured to be difficult to counterfeit.
