The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has announced that the second unit of its new main rocket, called "H3," will be launched from the Tanegashima Space Center on February 15, 2024. The first unit of H3 encountered a launch failure in March 2022 due to an engine ignition failure. H3 is the successor to H2A and is being jointly developed by JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It is designed to transport Japan's artificial satellites and meet the demand for commercial satellite launches worldwide. H3 aims to reduce launch costs, targeting approximately 5 billion yen, half of H2A's cost, under certain conditions.
